Canyon Fat Bikes

Fat bikes are a fun new way, either guided or unguided, to explore the trails northeast of the lodge and along the rim of the canyon. These bikes are ideal for the rocky terrain.

Important Information for Hiking and Mountain Biking

Rim to River Hike

  • Hiking trails are open between April and September
  • A doctor’s certificate confirming the participant’s fitness is required for the hikes of 1, 2 or 3 days
  • No children under 16 years are allowed on the hikes of 1, 2 or 3 days
  • All meals, soft drinks and house wines are included in the rate
  • Minimum of 2 and maximum of 10 participants per hike
  • A fee will be charged for unscheduled vehicle transfers between the Lodge and the canyon
  • Rim to River 2/3-day hikers will receive a canvas bag for personal clothing. The bag will be transported to each overnight camp. Other luggage should be locked in the hiker’s vehicle for the duration of the hike

Essentials to bring along:

  • A small daypack to carry water and lunch packs
  • Sturdy hiking boots
  • Bathing costume
  • Hat and sun cream
  • Warm clothing for chilly nights

Canyon Mountain Biking

  • Mountain biking trails are open all year round
  • Trails are unguided
  • Routes will be provided digitally or printed
  • Nights are spent at Camp Edge and Camp Eternity and/or Fish River Lodge
  • Breakfast and dinner are served at the camps and a packed lunch is provided
  • 2/3-day cyclists will receive a canvas bag for personal clothing. The bag will be transported to each overnight camp. Other luggage should be locked in the cyclist’s vehicle for the duration of the trail 
  • A fee will be charged for unscheduled vehicle support between the Lodge and trails
  • A park fee will be charged for using the trails
  • Radio equipment will be provided

  • Your own mountain bike
  • Helmet
  • Water bottles
  • Sun cream
  • Basic tool set
